Travelling back to USA after cond GC expires?

I sent my application for i751 off on Jan 28th and have yet to receive anything yet, if i travel outside the US and return after my temporary GC expires, will that be an issue?

I dont think I have any proof I sent the application apart from a copy of the form I sent... would that be ok?

anyone any similar experiences?

You need the notice of action letter, it is also your extension letter. Without it you can't board return flight.

When does your green card expire? You won't be able to return without the letter you receive saying it has been extended. You will have to wait. The officers at the border don't care if you applied, they care that you have a receipt (Notice of Action) stating that your card has been extended for a year.
