5 months this week at TSC

This week we pass our 5 th month of waiting at tsc, how much longer do you think we need to wait? No RFE so far.. We are September filers.

And also, when you (beneficiary) got to the states and waited for the necessary paperwork to be done and before having your work permit, what did you guys do? How long were you at home before able to start working or at least apply for jobs?This part is kind of scary for me as I never never have been without a job! my hubby will continue to work mon-fri as usual obviously, and I will be home, like how did that work for you?

Currently they're working on June, July & August filers according to the list on VJ so I'm sure by April September filers will be on the list... You're almost there!

As far as living you'll get you SSN number in a matter of weeks and green card in a matter of months. For the first few months you might get bored, but hey you'll be here and finally be with your partner... Go on some road trips, travel within the states, get to know your neighborhood, research school (if necessary), gather AOS information, spend time with the family etc... So much to do plus the months are going by fast so don't worry much because I believe the most time you'll be spending at home waiting for your green card is maybe up to a year depending on how fast they're processing them, but sit back and relax... Enjoy the time off before you start working and never get free time again good luck!!

Our petition is coming up on 7 months. The only comfort I have is discovering that our case is assigned to an adjudicator. Who knows when he or she will actually do something with it, though?

A staffer for my Congressman's office called to check status and the USCIS liaison told him my case was assigned. Of course, they also add that it could take up to 45 days to be processed, but I'm presuming that's just BS to give them time to handle it at their usual snail's pace.

It's freaking absurd that CSC can process in a couple of weeks and TSC is dragging us through the mud. Sheer incompetence is the only reason I can find to attribute the difference.

The current wait time for NOA-2 is between 6-8 months. I wish you the best on your journey.

In terms of what to do if you're bored---all depends on you and your interests and if you'll be able to drive or if you live near transit. But there's a lot of volunteer opportunities with all sorts of organizations. From what I've read and understand (you will want to check on this yourself) "the rules" do allow for volunteer work at a non-profit organization IF the volunteer isn't volunteering with promise of later employment or a promise of helping to find a job etc. Basically, if you really just want to keep busy exercising dogs at the animal shelter, or cooking at a soup kitchen, or cleaning up riverbanks, or whatever need calls to you, you can. They don't want people without EADs or GCs "volunteering" at a restaurant or construction company and either (a) being paid under the table or (b) being completely taken advantage of because of their immigration status.

We just did the same thing and got the same response! Fingers crossed that both of our K1's get approved soon!
