I got I-130 approved April 8, 2014, and I am hearing nothing back from INS. Is there anything I need to do?

I am also confused..... I am trying to invite my wife, and my next step is I-485( I heard)..... is this CR-1?

Thank you in advanced!!

The INS no longer exists.

After your I-130 was approved it should have been forwarded to the NVC who should have contacted you to begin the next step; did that not occur?

Unfortunatly, no contacts from NVC.

So, I called NVC last November to find out the status, but I was told there is no Visa was available....... is this normal?

or

Do you know hiring a immigration lawyer will make this prograss faster?

Sorry... I am just frustrated, and worried about my current situation... my wife is also concern about this as well since we are living seperated

Are you a US citizen?

No. Not a U.S Citizen. I am aligible, but I cant because Korea does not allow dual citizenship.

Then that is the source of your issue. Since you're an LPR then you must wait for a visa number to become available for your wife.

What is the priority date listed on your I-130 approval notice or receipt? Using that we can work out approximately how long you will have to wait.

Were you a permanent resident or US citizen when you filed the I- 130? If a resident, you have to wait for a visa number to be available. The current Priority Date fot spouse of a resident is May 8, 2013. If you were a resident when you filed but have now received US cutuzenship, have you notified USCIS to update your status?

I just saw Priority Date on I-130, and it is March 3, 2014.

Is there a site I can see how long I need to wait?

Thank you so much!! I did not even know what Priority Date meant...... I am so bad on this

You can see the latest visa bulletin (the official site that tracks priority date wait times) here: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin/2015/visa-bulletin-for-march-2015.html

F2A (spouses and children of permanent residents) is currently at June 2013, so you have a wait of approximately 9 months ahead of you until a visa number becomes available.

If you have been here for 5 years, you can become a US citizen and then she won't have to wait for a number. You will have to give up your Korean citizenship to do so. Some countries such as the Philippines permit obtaining citizenship again after a person gives up their citizenship to become a US citizen by just re-applying for citizenship at a Philippine consulate in the USA. Although the US does not recognize dual citizenship, the Philippine government does.

If I wanted my wife with me, I would do what it takes legally to get her here as soon as possible.

Oh, by the way, my wife becomes a US Citizen when she takes her oath this upcoming Tuesday. We both can't wait we are so excited.
