I-751 Request For Evidence (RFE) - No join bank account, incomplete tax returns?

Been reading this forum for a while and it's been really helpful, hope I can get some guidance on my case and that it will help others in the future!

Here's my background: I got residency through marriage and recently submitted a I-751 to remove conditions and get a 10 year green card, but recently received a Request For Evidence RFE for the following reasons:

Tax returns submitted but not complete. Asking to submit all required schedules, statements and W-2 attachments of our Federal tax return.

What is the correct way to attach our returns? I read it was http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript and get "tax return transcripts" for the years in question, then attach any W-2's we have?

Not submitting a joint bank account statement

We have separate bank accounts, and like to keep our finances separate. All I can send the statements for our shared credit card account. Should I explain this in a cover letter?

Old electric bill, please submit current bills

The bill was for a previous residence, at our current residence my spouse is not on the lease and neither of our names are on the bill. I can put my spouse on the telephone bill and attach next months bill if that helps?

I'm only on a lease with my two other roommates, and we were also living apart for a while, not an ideal situation.

We hope to move soon and be able to get on the same lease, but probably need to send the RFE reply before that. Please advice :)

1. If you send Tax return transcripts, no need W2s. File 2014 tax now and submit everything in your RFE response. It takes a couple weeks to get transcript for newly filed tax.

2. Explain on reason why on a cover letter why you don't have joint banking activities.

3. Ask the person, whose name is on bill to write an affidavit for you.

4. Gather more evidences, call insurance companies to get ALL of your policy documents, even old.

Explain clearly on cover letter, it is your best bet. The worst case is an interview, and if you are legit, no need to worry.

Thanks for the suggestions! My comments:

1. Filing a 2014 return is a great idea but a no go as we're planning to file separately for financial reasons (we'd get a huge tax penalty for filing jointly).

2. The reason for not having a joint bank account is simply that we like to keep our finances separate. Modern times!

3. Can ask the person on the bill to write an affidavit, great idea :)

Hoping to avoid a second interview, even though we are legit, we've had some rocky patches and you can never know what happens in a marriage :/

We don't have a joined bank account also but we have credit cards to both of our names and a savings account. I agree with you about the separate joined account. In our situation we just keep better track of our expenses and manage them better. It's nothing wrong with it no ?

May I ask how it went when you told them about separate finances? I am in the same situation as yours, submitting my RFE requireqements next week. What is your status now?
