Quick question:

We would like to have a "destination wedding" in DR (with my husband's family & friends that didn't get a chance to attend d our small civil ceremony and dinner here due to the impossibility of planning given the uncertainty that was that whole fiasco of waiting for the k1 interview etc...plus it would have Bern unfair for my husband who has no family here) since we only had a small one here. So I wonder if we can go there in case the interview for AOS is not yet done?

in other words- if he leaves will they let him back in ? what do we need to do other than request AP?

And you should be aware that AP does NOT guarantee the Non-USC re-entry into the USA.

It's supposed to only be used for specific reasons not general leisure travel.

Personally, I wouldn't do it... Wait for the Conditional LPR. That's what my Dominican husband and I have decided to do We decided on a Cruise wedding AFTER working a while saving up money, getting settled in and most importantly AFTER he has His LPR card in hand.

You can use AP. It can be used for leisure travel. You do not have to provide a reason for wanting/needing to use it. You do not need a specific reason for your travels abroad.

Don't leave the US without having AP or the green card first, or he will not be able to re-enter the US without filing for a spousal visa.

So stressful. Everyone is eager to celebrate with us and his grandma, who is truly the most wonderful magical soul ever,is old and not doing well (they partially amputated her foot just before he left) and we want her there so waiting is, although practical, is not something we would like to do if we really don't have to.

And you should be aware that AP does NOT guarantee the Non-USC re-entry into the USA.

Only the blue passport GUARANTEES re-entry to the US. Even a GC holder can be detained by CBP and sent infront of an immigration judge to have the GC removed if the CBP person feels the LPR has abandoned their LPR status.

OP: He will be paroled into the US. When you arrive back to the US, he will be sent to secondary inspection, so make certain you have plenty of time for a connecting flight.
