missing second surname on GC

Here's the situation, when filing the AOS for my dad, his second last name(maternal ex: firstname lastname (2)lastname (hispanic)) was omitted from his GC, he check the application and the person forgot to include the second last name, therefore any changes to the GC will have to come out of pocket. We decided not to do anything, but now he needs to travel back to his home country and we are worried that the discrepencies between his passport and GC could be a problem when boarding the plane back to states.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

That should not be an issue since the US only uses the first Last Name, a lot people travel with married name on GCs and maiden names on passports without an issue, so in your case a missing surname should not matter

thank you for your reply. I read a lot post with situations where the spouse adopted the married name, but none have a situation like mine. Hopefully we don't encounter any problems in chile when boarding.
