Congrats!! So exciting! Do you already have plans for airlines and POE? I'm curious because my hubby is waiting for his interview to be scheduled and I want to meet him wherever he fly's in at. I'm close to Tulsa, so i know i'll have to fly somewhere as there are no direct flights from Moscow to Tulsa. I'm just trying to get some ideas at this point. Im curious how your interview went also.

I honestly thought we were being denied. Our interviewer was a lot more of an interrogator than I thought. Andrey was extremely nervous & scared of being denied so he wouldn't speak loud enough for the man to hear & he couldn't think straight to answer the questions properly. The questions weren't what I was expecting & focused on how we met (by chance online in a bingo app chat) and our trip to Turkey this past March. They were pretty simple questions but it was like they were trying to find holes in our story & we were thrown off guard. We hadn't went over those details because we really didn't think it would be brought up. He never asked for more proof of our relationship except he asked if we had more pictures & I said I didn't bring any since we submitted the ones from Turkey already. He was typing a lot & at the end was quiet for longer than before so I just knew that when he reached over & got a paper to hand to us, it was a denial. Much to my surprise, he casually said "your visa is approved" and was explaining what the sheet said. We both were just shocked & it took a second before we realized he had just said we were approved & it was over.

As for airlines & POE, we're flying Turkish Airlines into Houston in mid-January. They were the cheapest we could find & our two tickets add up to the average cost of one.

I feel like I missed something you wanted to know so anything else, just ask (:

This is great news. Your presence might have turned the tide in your favor. Congratulations and wishes for a safe journey!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Wow!! that does sound scary! I'm glad everything went good for you! I wish I could be with my hubby for the interview, but I wont be able to. Thanks for the info, I'm definately going to check this out because i would much rather fly to Houston than New York. I'm close enough i could even just drive to Houston, plus I love Texas :) I hope you have a safe trip home! and now you'll be busy making wedding plans! Yay!!

Congratulations Meghan & Andrey. Good luck managing the electronics!

@Boris&Kassie: I lived in Tulsa when we got married, though I'd moved to Denver by the time she moved here "permanently". Tulsa is pretty reliably two hops away from Moscow so three hops away from the interior of the country. Delta, Aeroflot, and Singapore are all good options. Of those, Deltas service on board is, in our repeated experience, the worst. Singapore gets one to Houston from Moscow and can be quite nice. Aeroflot has improved incredibly over the first few years and, in my judgement, is better than any US domestic airline, but it gets one to JFK or LAX which might be less convenient. Delta has a good Moscow/Atlanta flight that offers convenient connections to Tulsa. And Delta is in the same club as Aeroflot, which may be an advantage for you, depending on the nature of ties you retain with Russia.

These days Aeroflot can be a great bargain. I just bought a pair of Russia domestic tickets on Aeroflot and was surprised and delighted how much less expensive those tickets were than normal. Delta is probably the most expensive of the three while Singapore is surprisingly economical given its incredibly good reputation.
