CONDITIONAL RESIDENT

I have been a Conditional resident for the past 2 years, I finally sent out my application to have my condtion removed and now they have responded saying that they are going to extend my conditional residence for an extra year which would make it for a total of 3 years condition, here is the question(s) I have for you guys:

1. What happens now with my time frame in order to be able to apply for my citizenship?

2. What is the actual time frame to apply for my US citizenship?

3. What could be the reason why they would extend my condition instead of revoking it?

4. can I appeal the decision?

Answers:

1. No change
2. 3 years from date of entry to the US as long as you have remained married to the same petitioner.
3. When you file the paperwork to remove conditions and they receive said paperwork, they simply extend your status as a resident while the I-751 is pending.
4. There is nothing to appeal.

Thank you for the quick response Ryan, what are you telling me is that they have extended my conditional residence for 1 year because they are porcessing my paperwork and it could last longer than the remaining validity of it, however the green card I might received it could be for more than just ! 1 year?

you will receive the 10 year GC, but because it takes more than 3 months, your current GC will have expired. standard procedure, everyone applying for removal gets the 1 year extension, to work and travel during the process
