We sent our registered I-130 packet from abroad to Chicago Lockbox some time ago. According to tracking information it is sitting in Chicago since December 5th:

"Your item arrived at the CHICAGO, IL 60699 post office at 10:00 am on December 5, 2014 and is ready for pickup. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later".

Are they going to pick it up or is it a chance that it will come back as undelivered? Is it normal? don't they pick up the correspondence every day?

Thank you, dweels76, for your quick response. I thought I am a calm one, but started to worry at the beginning of our journey :) I will be patient. Thanks again and all the best for you.

You will be fine This process will make anyone cray cray. Even a sweet monk or nun. So just buckle up. Good news is since you are filing from abroad (Yea!) they have been auto expediting ya'll. You hopefully you too should be approved in that fast track. Been seeing approvals within 30 days. But than you go to the black hole which is NVC. So just be ready :goofy:

I know you didn't ask but hey while you waiting for approval here's some NVC light reading for you. All the best to you over there.

Oh, yes, I have heard about this auto expediting, but I don't want to be too happy before we are approved :) I will fill out our time line once we hear NOA1.

I did read a lot about NVC process, seems we have everything ready or within hands reach to get ready. Trying not to get involved in those readings too much as some disastrous stories make me having panic attacks  My husband says about me: "if you have nothing to worry about you will sure find something right away" :goofy:

Did you use USPS priority or Express ?

No, it was not Express for sure. Priority? Maybe. As we sent it from abroad we registered it at the Post Office. They did put a "priority" sticker on the envelope and gave us a tracking # so we can follow it. It was not the ordinary cheap mailing.

What courier did you use ? How USPS scan the item ?

We didn't use any courier (UPS or DHL nor FedEx), just simple mail. Instead of putting any stamps, we took it to the post office and sent it as registered. Once it reaches USA, it is being handled by USPS, as far as I understand.

I posted a question here before we mailed it, but didn't get no answer re how to send it. So we assumed it is alright to do it registered.

'singature confirmation to the po box address' is troublesome -

usually once or twice a week, a USCIS employee gets into the post office, and handles the signature cards, and the mail that was held because of this 'designation' gets delivered to USCIS.

Sorry yer having this trouble.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thank you Darnell for reply. I see now how troublesome it is. But as long as they get it we are alright.

What would you suggest for the future mailing though?
