Apply for tourist visa with a K1 in process

I hope you can help me.

My fiance will be filling my k1 visa petition this 22nd. Also, im planing to go visit him in april, but I have to ask for a tourist visa first.

Im from Argentina.

Im really worried about the tourist visa, i had applied 2 times when i was living in Peru (Im peruvian, but now im living in argentina with argentinian citicenship), and both times i got it denied. It will be my first time applying as Argentinian.

I think we all know how hard is getting a USA Tourist Visa.

I will be applying for the tourist visa in January, so I dont know what to say in the interview.

One of my options is not to mention that I am going to visit my fiance. Just say that im going with some friends to a known city, like New york, Miami, California. etc, but im afraid they could tell me: hey! but you have a k1 visa in process, why arent you going to visit your fiance? (I dont know wheter they have the option to see that)

my other option is to ask my fiance to make a letter to the embassy which i will show it the day of the interview. In this letter he can explain that we have already started the k1 visa petition and that im only going for 15 days, that he will pay everything, and that he is responsible of me getting back to Argentina. I am not really sure if this is a good idea.

Can any of you give me any other suggestion?

I dont want to have any problem later when i have the k1 interview. I dont want this tourist visa attempt to be taken as a red flag.

.

Do not lie. Not worth it.

I don't think the tourist visa attempt will be a red flag on your K1 attempt, as long as you don't lie about anything along the way.

Telling the truth is the best bet ... you want to visit your fiance along with a few friends, etc. Perhaps let the CO know that you understand it is not legal to come to the US with the intent to marry and that you don't intend to do this ... you have the K1 already in process and will be returning to your country in order to see that through and then return to the US to marry.

I think your chances are less than 50/50, but not impossible. I always feel it's best to tell the truth and demonstrating that you understand the regulations/requirements around each of the visa types you are dealing with I think will only help and not hurt you.

Good luck.

Don't lie.

That said, your chances of getting awarded a tourist visa with a K-1 in process are slim to none. This is because a K-1 visa already shows immigrant intent, which is a major disqualification for a tourist visa.

Here is an excellent pertinent thread from the K1 Process Forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/67796-yes-you-can-visit/

Good luck on your immigration journey.
