Just Got Our NOA2!

I just got a nice supprise in the mail today. We got our NOA2. I was expecting a longer wait for the Nebraska Service Center to review our petition. I've been looking at various timelines and the stats here on VisaJourney. Does this mean I can expect our petiton to reach the interview/visa issuance somewhere around the second quarter of 2015 if everything goes smoothly? Also when exactly will we need to copy my wife's passport? She recently renewed it with her married name and won't be receiving it until early December. I was reading in the guides that we're going to need it during this stage.

Congrats on getting the I-130 approved in about 30 days. Looks like USCIS has cleaned up the backlog that they had last year. Took my wife 9 months to get her parent's I-130 approved.

You ask about a copy of your wife's passport? At the earliest I suspect that you will be at the civil document stage of the National Visa Center (NVC) process would be sometime early next year. It could take about a month for the file to be transferred from USCIS to NVC, and then they take their time to assign a case number and do other things before they ask you to mail in the necessary documents.

The second quarter of next year? No, I don't think so. It should happen much sooner than that. After we got our NOA2, it was about 3 weeks I think before we got to the next step and within 5-6 weeks we had our interview date. (Or would have had it not been for week-long holidays and all kinds of mail troubles and civil unrest that delayed everything). But I would say in about a month from now you'll be well into the next part of the process.

i almost lost my hope today coz i thought i have to wait for 5months… thanks for your post.. i hope mine will be the same… sent it last oct.13 and priority date is oct 15.. so hopefully i could hear any reply from them.. i need to have my son here with us now.. did you guys did something to make it fast? btw .. I'm processing i130 for my son

Wow nebraska processing so fast.. We are also sept filer.. We sent our docx on 9th sept and got noa1 but noa2 is nowhere in sight.

nate and riyn and Rdahal all I did was try to include as much evidence as possible. Our I-130 submission was about 1.5in thick and weighed 4lb. Half an inch of that was printed chat logs ranging from our initial meeting to present. The rest was evidence such as a letter from our bank to prove our joint accounts in the Philippines, proof of being on the same health insurance in the Philippines, and proof of my 3 visits to see my then girlfriend (now wife). I also included about 80 pictures throughout our relationship including our travels and wedding pictures. We flew to several destinations around the Philippines while I was there for 6 months and we also went to Thailand together. I included proof of those travels also including front to back scans of my wifes and my passports (as a dual citizen, I have 2 and that was also a ton of pages). I also included affidavits from my mom and also from one of my wife's relatives.

Thanks RWD for sharing.. We also sent tons of evidence .. Our phone bill to each otherwas more than 50 page.. Around 200 pages of documents, forms and evidence submitted in our case too.

Thanks Jana636... I'm not sure it's just the Philippines though. I was looking through other timelines of others that filed around the same time as me from different countries and they also seem to be approved around the same. Maybe they're getting better at their processing times.

Congratulations on your NOA2.

If you are lucky at NVC stage, I guess 2^nd quarter next year will be fine, provided that all documents are ready and no checklist from NVC

Do not wait for the new passport if everything else are ready for submission.

NVC confirm and even others did the same, that we can submit passport in maiden and just submit the new passport in married name during interview.

That’s what we did cause I won’t be able to collect my new passport until December 7.

We are waiting for case complete now, praying there wont be any checklist with NVC.

Those people from other countries getting approved quickly are cases where the USC lives abroad with the petitioner. Those cases get auto expedited just like Philippines ones. Everyone else is still waiting several months (5+ for NSC, 3+ for VSC).

Hi everyone!

Ok.. im getting a lil frustrated because we received our NOA1 Nov. 14th and until now we are still waiting for NOA2. Its been a month.. My husband called USCIS and they were telling him to wait 2-3 mos. I dont want to believe them. I'm starting to worry. I hope we dont get any RFEs. Is it really true that they are expediting the process for those people in the Philippines?
