My fiance has been approved for his K1 Visa and will be back in the US shortly!!

Just wanted to thank the VJ community for the invaluable information and guides - we have followed all of the advice on here and had no problems whatsoever.

All the other same-sex couples out there: if we can do it, so can you!! :)

Best of luck to all and thanks again for the continued support!

K-1 Timeline

2014-05-19: Submitted I-129F to Dallas Lockbox via USPS

2014-05-22: Notification of confirmed delivery by USPS

2014-05-27: NOA1 notification by email

2014-05-30: Notification by email that Alien Registration Number had changed

2014-06-02: NOA1 hard copy received by mail

2014-06-10: APPROVED! NOA2 notification by text/email (14 days after NOA1!)

2014-06-14: NOA2 hard copy received by mail

2014-06-20: File received at NVC & case # received over phone

2014-07-11: Packet 3 received from Buenos Aires Embassy

2014-10-07: Packet 3 sent (after long wait gathering documents in Argentina)

2014-10-21: Packet 4 received from Buenos Aires Embassy & interview scheduled

2014-10-27: INTERVIEW: K1 Visa APPROVED! :dancing:

2014-11-07: POE in Houston, TX & arrival into Denver, CO

2014-11-10: MARRIED :luv:

2014-11-14: AOS Paperwork Submitted

2014-11-20: NOA received for receipt of AOS Paperwork

Congratulations to you both...

So good to hear there were no complications with your petition... Of course we have had some worries if there has been any problems being same sex especially in the interview process... We are still waiting for our NOA-2 but now feel there will not be any problem on the same sex issue on our application...

That is so great to hear. My fiancé's interview is Jan 23. We are truly hoping for no issues because it is a same sex K1 visa application in Colombia.

Congrats on the engagement. We are a same-sex couple too. The USCIS and Visa Interview were no different from heterosexual interviews. The Visa interview took place in a 'homophobic' country and it was just like the regular interviews.

Congrats to everyone and best of luck in your visa process! Take our case as an example that all you have to do is have the paperwork in order and it won't matter if you are gay, straight, black, white, or purple!

We were married on 10 Nov 2014 and are my husband (!) just days away from receiving his AOS biometrics appointment and the temporary permission to work. They were sent out to us but returned to USCIS by the US postal service after some issue with delivering them. Either way this only took about 2 months after submitting the AOS paperwork.

2015 is looking good! Best of luck to all! :)

Congratulations to you! My partner has his interview in Ciudad Juarez at the end of this month and we hope to marry by March. The VJ community has been invaluable and am pleased to read that same sex marriage is not an issue in getting approved. All the best....

08/14/14 Mailed I-129F

08/25/14 Email notification of NOA1 received; check cashed.

08/29/14 Received hard-copy NOA1 with notice date of August 22

10/15/14 Checked my case status on-line and was told that my approval was mailed out on Oct 15!

11/03/14 NVC received my case from USCIS (unsure of this date)

11/07/14 NVC assigned a case #, an invoice # and Beneficiary ID (unsure of exact date)

11/10/14 Package was sent to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico consulate (this date is known)

11/25/14 Received Package 3 (a letter) from Consulate dated Nov 19, 2014.

01/29/15 Interview in Ciudad Juarez - approved!!!

02/26/15 Entry into the US in San Ysidro by land

03/16/15 Marriage in San Diego

03/27/15 Filed applications for Adjustment of Status with Chicago lockbox

04/06/15 Received electronic notification that case was received

04/17/15 Received notification of biometrics apptmnt on May 1, 2015.

05/01/15 Biometrics taken

06/20/15 Received Authorization to Work / Advance Parole card

06/28/15 Status updated "Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview"

09/22/15 Interview in Chula Vista, CA and received verbal approval.

06/27/17 I-751 package sent

07/05/17 NOA-1 received

08/25/18 Received Courtesy copy of 18 month extension letter

10/16/18 Notified that green card is being produced.
