We received an RFE asking for proof of our co-sponsor my (husbands father) citizenship, this is fine he is happy to provide this but my question is

will a photocopy of his birth certificate be okay? or do we need to send the original copy? I do not want them to send an RFE about it not being an original.

Thank you in advance.

Did you forget to send the information the first time? Provide a photocopy of his birth certficate, and if you want to cover your bases, send in a copy of all the pages of his passport.

All pages of a passport are not required for a joint sponsor to prove citizenship with the I-864.

OP, yes, just a copy of the US birth certificate is all you need. If using a US passport, you just need a copy of the biographical page.

See Page 4 > '5. Item Number 11.a. - 11.c. Citizenship/Residency' of the I-864 instructions> http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864instr.pdf
