Hi guys,

I am a K1 Visa Beneficiary and got the NOA1 by the middle of June. I have seen people that applied after me and already got their approval (According to VJ Timelines) in the same Service Center (Texas). I am really glad for them, however I was just wondering if anyone knows how it works! I don't understand how people that apply after others get their approval before! I didn't get any RFE and when I check our case online all I see is the ''Initial Review''status. It's been 4 months and I have no idea if everything went well!! I don't know if due to the fact that my fiancé is in the Navy (13 years), the background checks are more strict and it might take a little longer!

Thanks.

Yeah the same thing with me! We relieved our noa 1 on March 25th and still no word! I contacted uscis and they said they can't do anything cause it's still in the hotmail processing times .. And as of now they have done till March 4th... I personally think it's luck of the draw!!

Ohh, march? It really sucks! I understand the backlog and the USCIS website says the processing time for TSC is 5.9 months! It would be better if they had ONE Service Center with the same amount of people to process the K1 Petitions, instead of different Centers to cause frustration (People on CSC sometimes takes less than a MONTH to get approved).

I get worried because our wedding party will be in september and lots of different vendors are booked and paid for!

Good luck!!!

ours was in Texas from march 19th 2014 , september 9th we got an RFE, send the requested document back to USCIS on october 8th and got approved on ocober 20th. I don't understand either how exactly they work. when you call USCIS make sure to ask for a tier 2 officer. they can tell you more about your case or where it is at. good luck to everyone who is still waiting, I know it is very frustrating and scary at the same time....

Please help me to clarify, day 17 around 4 pm, I went on the USCIS site and typed my password to my surprise decision is approved I get so nervous and showed my friend the blue ball moved from place and was approved, but it was a fleeting joy to come again in a few minutes to show my sister was in initial review did not believe what I was seeing what madness they screwed up? Good is better to see positively that they are considering my request LOL. Does this happen to anyone else here?

Oi gente,

Obrigado.

Hi Renata,

We are in the same situation, applied in June 24 we received NOA1, but so far no news about the NOA2, just a scare October 17 of a mistake committed by the USCIS.

Good luck to us all.

Hi Newbie,

Maybe it was just a messed-up website upload tho. If y'all filled for the G-1145 the Petitioner should receive a txt or e-mail about the NOA2. It never happened to me and all I see is the initial review! You mentioned you need a password to check your status? I just go online and type my case number. Is there any other source I should be checking at?

What I really don't get is the fact that people applying after us get their approval. Maybe they route the applications by region or something like that! Otherwise there wouldn't be a reasonable explanation (Or background checks due to the people involved).

I don't know if they need home country information and maybe it takes a while. I assume you're also from Brazil (Just like me) and maybe it takes long here. I am saying this because my fiancé is trying to come for New Years and he needs the Country Clearance (Military purposes) and the person in change in Brasília took more than 2 months to give him the country approval!

hey Rena , I understand how you feel, we had our wedding planned for oct but that had to change as time processing is very slow with tsc , LIKE most people on VJ would tell you dont plan, pay or make any rash moves until you have VISA in hand, we just got approved sept 29th, NVC has our file and awaiting it to be sent to consulate. We are doing a court house wedding but a huge reception where we can have friends and fam there. so be patient and breathe, Our wait was ruff but once you get you NOA2 it starts to pick up , what you can do is prepare ur doc for interview etc

Thought I would help you and others on here. The TSC takes way way more longer than the CSC!! That being said the entire K1 process is the following:

  • Opaque
  • Hurry up and wait
  • The flunkies who answer the phone together with any Senatorial involvement (depending on state) are totally useless.

The K1 process for us started mid-January and the approval was mid-August. That is seven months in all. Then everything went very fast after that (relatively). We did have an RFE which delayed by a month.

Hope it helps

David

Thanks and congrats!

I know that planning can be tricky, however the wedding reception is planned for september 2015 (Almost 15 months from the NOA1). I definitely thought it would be enough time to get my Visa in hands and now I am kinda scared about it. As of now I will keep going with my planning! In VA all the vendors are flexible and I added this to some contracts, especially because my fiancé is is the ship now and he can go on deployment anytime and on a unexpected manner!

Too bad the TSC is so slow. I have read before that they take like 15 MINUTES to check an application! I understand they may have thousands, I just wonder how many people they have to do it!

I will keep my hopes up! :)

Thanks David,

I guess many other have the craziest thoughts like I do: ''They lost my application'' or ''Something went wrong''. The lack of communication is not helpful at all. Calling the USCIS, according to what I have read, is definitely a waste of time.

I guess there is nothing else to do than wait! In my case I am still ''patient'' because I planned to move only in March/April due to work agreements (They need me to stay a little bit longer to train my replacement and etc).

Its hard to predict TSC processing times right now as all the transferred ones that went to CSC are getting approved so skewing the processing stats on VJ.

Right now for us stuck at TSC we just have to deal with it and hope we get some luck another time in life!

Good luck!

I have the same situation. I received NAO1, on June 13, but still waiting for approval. On uscis it still says "initial review." While I noticed that others with acceptance date after us have already received approval notices.

I'm confused with this as well.

My wedding is January 10, and was hoping to hear already.

When I call uscis, they can't help because tsc is in range, since they refuse to update their systemc and are stuck at March 4th.

I understand your frustration. I'm experiencing the same.
