Congratulations to all the recent approvals and a heartfelt thank you for updating your timeline!

I would find it so helpful in my effort to make some sense of USCIS process if you would indicate if you asked for expedited service/review for a hardship situation or if you have someone (member of Congress for example) helping with your petition. In a process with vagary these recent approvals are somewhat worrisome for my because it undermines the little insight we have - processed in the order they are received.

Again congrats and best wishes for continued happiness!

Here's the USCIS Expedite Criteria:

All expedite requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and are granted at the discretion of the Director. The burden is on the applicant or petitioner to demonstrate that one or more of the expedite criteria have been met. The criteria are as follows:

Severe financial loss to company or individual

Extreme emergent situation

Humanitarian situation

Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States

Department of Defense or National Interest Situation (Note: Request must come from official United States Government entity and state that delay will be detrimental to our Government)

USCIS error

Compelling interest of USCIS

Note: Discretionary expedite requests for petitions and applications that have Premium Processing Service available will not be considered for expedite processing. The only exception is when the petitioner is a not-for-profit organization designated by the Internal Revenue Service. For information regarding premium processing, please refer to the premium processing webpage.

If you have already filed your application or petition:

You can make an expedite request by contacting the National Customer Service Center (NCSC) at 1-800-375-5283. The NCSC will take a service request and forward your expedite request to the office with jurisdiction over the application or petition. You also have the options of 1). visiting your local office by scheduling an InfoPass appointment or 2). writing a letter to the local office or service center.

Unfortunately, USCIS does not process in the order received.

But, wow are they approving fast comparing to a year ago. We waited 6 months for the NOA2.

I suggest that there be some way to add to the timeline an expedite request date, reason drop down (Medical, Humanitarian, Financial Loss, Emergent Situation, Military, Other), and the result (granted, denied) along with result date.

That way people can filter through the timelines which were expedites.

^ That's what I am thinking d3adc0d3. For me it's about trying to manage expectations. I respect the USCIS process of petitions "generally" being processed in the order they are received. To me generally means give or take a couple of weeks to allow for individual case worker's speed and/or difficulty of cases. Recent approvals are well beyond "generally." So I would like to better understand why that may be - expedited reasons could provide that understanding.

That's all - I don't feel filing under one of the exceptions is right for us - thanks for the info though - I'm sure someone can benefit from it.

Unfortunately the 6 month timeframe seems quite common still for many people. We are 3+ months into it with lots of cases remain in front of ours.

Can't wait to share the happiness, elation, and joy approved petitioners must be feeling now that the unknowing is over the longest wait is behind them!

All the best.
