So my fiancé has now started panicking about the interview since we're scheduling it this week. He wants to know if there are any guys out there that have interviewed that would be willing to talk to him about it? He really just needs to hear what it's like from someone who has been through it. He was denied a tourist visa a year ago & he thinks that's going to happen again. They didn't explain the denial to him & the sheet he got was vague, so he doesn't fully understand what happened. He just needs someone to talk to who's been through it.

Does he want to talk to someone who has had a tourist visa denial and then applied for a K-1 or just someone who has been through the K-1 experience? Is he interviewing alone or are you going to be with him at the interview?

If he is looking for someone who has been through the K-1 experience I am more than willing to talk and answer any questions he has. I had my USC with me at the interview as well.

Sounds like the Russian consulate review section of this site would be the best place to look. Try the regional forums, too -- you might even find someone he could talk to in Russian, if that would help him feel more comfortable.

No, it doesn't have to be someone who was denied a tourist visa. He was denied because he didn't show strong enough ties & he was coming to see me. He can't wrap his head around the denial because they asked him if he was married, had kids, if I was married, had kids & that was literally all they asked. He just wants someone to talk to about his K1 interview. I'm not sure what all he wants to know. He just asked me if I could find someone to talk to that could help him not be so worried. I am going to the interview with him. After I saw how much of a basket case he was for his tourist visa interview even just by text, I knew I had to be there for this interview.

I am in the regional forum and I've read the consulate reviews. That's not what he wants. He wants a person to talk to. He can speak English pretty well so speaking Russian isn't a must. He just wanted to speak to a Russian guy about it because he's Russian. He didn't want to speak to a Russian girl because he said some of them are doing it for different reasons & he doesn't feel it's the same. I don't know. His words lol Edited by Meghan&Andrey

My bad about the forum. So look at who's left reviews and send them a private message asking them if they'd be willing to talk to your fiancé. Since they've already been through the exact same process at the exact same consulate, they'd know better than anyone what the experience is like.

I would be willing to talk to him, but if Misha's girl would like to talk to him it would probably be better as they went through the Russian consulate. I went through the Canadian Consulate.

This is the chief cure for his nerves.

There is no drawback, and every potential benefit, in the petitioner's presence in or near the premises during the interview.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I 100% agree & on the actual day, I know it will work. I've just gotta get him through the next two months without psyching himself out in the mean time.
