birth certificate translation

USCIS told me I could translate myself, does anyone have experience with this matter?

Has anyone translated a birth certificate themselves and was it accepted?

The birth cert is from Venezuela and in spanish. I'm a speak,read and write fluently in spanish and I'm contemplating whether to do it myself or professionally?

Any advice? Thanks

You can translate the birth certificate yourself.

Just make sure to include a statement that says you are fluent in Spanish and sign it.

Yes. As long as the translation is accurate and complete and free of mistakes, it's fine. You have to translate everything on it even cancelled stamps. At the bottom of the translation you attach a small statement certifying your translation capabilities.

I, fulano de tal, hereby certify that the above is a complete and accurate translation of the original "whatever record" in Spanish and that I am competent in both English and Spanish to render such translation.
