She is likely to be denied a visitation visa. Also depend on what stage are you in filling process. If your application is still pending at NVC or Consulate, please don't use visitation process to get your wife here. You might risk the chance of being denied on both. Goodluck!

Actually that information is not completely accurate. She can visit you while the visa is in process regardless of the stage. I have done it myself several times with no problems at all. As a precaution, make sure she can prove at the airport she has ties back to her country. Work letter, any real state on her name, anything she can prove that she is just visiting and that she will return back to her country. As long she is truthful and honest, she shouldn't have any problems.

I have never been asked anything other that who I am going to visit and how long I will be there for. Of course, this is as long as she already has a B1/B2 visa. If she doesn't have one, then she will be denied one at the consulate.

Its possible but not likely. I tried 3 times but was denied each time. The embassy said they would never issue a B2 with another petition in progress because my ties would always be to my husband. It actually makes sense to me. It has nothing to do with the stage the petition is at.

Having said that I have seen people be granted such a visa right here on V J. Should she be granted a B 2 she could use it to exit Thailand but keep in mind entry is granted at the POE so she could be denied entry if they decided she wasn't going to return.

Do not risk the chances of your application being denied, since you have I130 pending, be patient. I have been waiting for 2 years and wife case is still on AP after interview since August. Just hang in there and pray!

First the I-130 is a petition.

Secondly, even with a denied tourist visa, that does not affect the petition or the eventual visa.

The reason the tourist visa would be denied is because with a pending I-130 petition, the wife shows immigrant intent. In truth, to the DOS, she shows immigrant intent enough for a denial simply being married to a USC and most often tourist visas are denied to foreigners married to USCs for that reason.
