London Interview - Birth Certificate.

I have found my Birth Certificate and the London Embassay website states the following :

Birth Certificate: Obtain the original, or certified copy, of the birth record of each family member (yourself, your spouse, and all unmarried children under the age of 21, even if they are not immigrating with you. If the children are deceased, so state giving year of death). The certificate must contain the following:

• Person's date of birth;
• Names of both parents; and
• Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records.

Note: We will not accept the short form version of a UK birth certificate. The certificate must list both parents'names.

This is where I run into a problem. My Birth Certificate does not display my parents name. All I have on it are my name, date of birth, sex, place of birth, and date and signature of registrar. What should I do?

Im going to take a huge guess and say that you have the short form only?

If this is the case you can order a long form here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/

It arrives really quick and I'd suggest getting two as they kept mine at the interview and you need a copy for the aos stage, and it's always wise to keep a copy.

You are correct. Its on a short piece of paper.

Are they allowed to keep it? I have both, since I was born, it would be a shame if they kept it and I had to get another one for me. Would they take a copy? But give the original back to me? :/

To be honest I didn't even notice.

I was so happy to be approved that I didn't check what they gave back to me and didn't actually give it another thought until I had been in the states a couple weeks.

I then realised that I never got it back.

But it was fine because you can order them on that website in the long form you need.

So I wasn't too worried about it.

I've no idea if they were allowed to keep it or not.
