Submitting documents to NVC as 'ONE package'

 Share

I have a question for fellow NVC fillers, I have read over and over to submit the AOS package and then wait for the IV fee to be available pay and and then send the IV package.

Browsing on the State website and I saw the below, my question is do I submit the IV documents together with AOS or individually?

http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/immigrant-process/documents/Submit_documents.html

Step 6: Submit Documents to the NVC

After you collect your Affidavit of Support form(s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, you must submit all of the documents in ONE package to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

Review the methods below, and choose the one that applies to your case.

I have been told the submit all in 'ONE' is a new system for September on wards, I wanted to know from anyone that has done it, do I need to wait for IV Fee to become available before sending the 'one package' ?

How soon does the IV fee become available after the AOS is paid? Our AOS fee was paid 18tth Sept and today 19th Sept is has appeared as PAID.

Thanks in Advance.

I am going to do this as I fell under this new process.

I don't know if you must wait for the IV fees under new process but whenever I called NVC they told me to just send the package together before the IV fees come through

Also with the new process Ypu should get an email with the document cover sheet to include in your package (sort of like a checklist for both IV and AOS package).

IV Fee becomes available after the DS-261 is reviewed and accepted. As of last month the review period was said to be 60 days.

Also, you need the bar coded cover sheet for the AoS and a bar coded cover sheet for the IV Packet. You get each sheet after you pay the fee online for the associated packet.

If you send in the AoS packet and IV packet with only the AoS bar coded sheet, there might be delays.

If you're waiting for the IV Fee, it can be invoiced between the time you submitted and 60 days after.

Edit: I was unaware if there is a new process this month since the fee changes, this information reflects our experience from August.

You used to submit the AOS and IV individually after each invoice is paid. What I am reading now is that they want everything at the same time. You could either use the AOS bar code sheet or as someone else has pointed out, a special bar code sheet.

Maybe this is the NVC'S way of trying to speed up the process since it now takes more than twice as long.

However it also reads like they want the package after all fees are paid. Both the IV and AOS.

These are the NEW steps as I read and understand them.

Step 1 – Choose an agent

Step 2 – Pay fees (Immigrant visa application processing fee and Affidavit of support fee)

If you pay online allow 5 days for the NVC to process your fee payments before continuing to the next step

Step 3 – Complete DS-260

After completing the DS-260 you must print the confirmation page and bring it to your interview.

Step 4 – Collect financial documents

· Complete Affidavit of support form i.e I-864

· Obtain financial evidence i.e IRS Tax Transcripts

Step 5 – Collect supporting documents ( These are the IV documents, marriage cert/ police cert etc)

Step 6 – Submit documents to the NVC as ‘ONE package’

· After you collect your affidavit of support form (s) and financial evidence in Step 4, and supporting documents in Step 5, You must submit all of the documents in 'ONE package' to the NVC. Your case may be significantly delayed if you fail to submit all of your documents in one package.

· PLEASE ALLOW 60 DAYS for the NVC to review your forms and documents.

I'm doing this now. I got an e-mail on Sept 17 informing me of the case number and invoice code. I was instructed to submit the choice of agent online which I did immediately. On Sept 18 I went online and was able to pay the AOS fee. Currently payment is "pending" and I don't have the option to pay the IV fee yet. I'm hoping that will come soon so I can submit everything together and I'll be sending by FexEx from abroad which will cost an arm and a leg.

IV fee takes up to 60 days from ds-261 submission. Which is why this new method is asinine imho. Sending the packages as they are paid makes more sense to me and what I would recommend people do.

Hi! We actually did this. We submitted both our Affidavit of Support and IV packets. It took them under 30 days to invoice us with the IV fee which we're really thankful. I think it really helped that we did mail them those two packets together. Good luck to all of us! =)

Geeze...we sent our packages separate because we were waiting on fees etc...so now we will be penalized for this by review taking longer than the people that filed everything after us in one package ? Why dont they give people a heads up that this will change before it does !

I think they're the ones being penalized. They can't send their package for 60 days even though they've paid fees. A checklist on the AOS puts the end that much further instead of in line with the IV.
