Pre-empting an RFE?

After reading a thread here, I realized that I may have made a mistake in my I129F, specifically, the translations I supplied for my fiance's documents were the photocopies, not the originals I got from her.

What I read was that translations should always be the original.

I suspect this would cause an RFE, so is there anyway I could contact USCIS and send the originals while the file is waiting to be adjudicated?

I'm not sure this is always the case. I have sent a few petitions in with only the copy because they cost me money and I could use them for future purposes. I never had an issue. Unless it depends on the kind of petition it is.

Also, it's not necessary to contact them. It's not a cause for denial. If they do need the original and send you an RFE, then you send it in at that point.

just wait for the RFE that may or may not come. it's easy to correct this anyway, should they issue an RFE for it

I wouldn't do anything, it might not matter. I was told by everyone on here that I would definitely get an RFE because the background of my Fiances passport photo was red and we got our NOA2 in 4 months approved. Good luck on your journey.

It's a good thing that your petition was approved, but when you go to the interview you definitely want to make sure that the background is not red lol.

Translations of what? What documents of your fiancé did you send? The only thing needed from the beneficiary at this point for the I-129F petition is: a signed letter of intent and a signed G-325A form with passport photo. No other documents are needed from the beneficiary. If you did send more than was requested, it is likely that it won't be looked at and it certainly won't be a basis for denial or RFE.

That depends on the mood of the IO. You might be fine, they may want the originals. If you don't get an RFE, and you're not going to attend your fiance's k1 interview, you should send him/her the originals in case they need it there.

We actually did new ones waiting for the RFE, so he does have them when asked. I was positive they were going to want them at the CSC, guess they are getting tired of all the petitions or something. Definitely got lucky tho.

Welcome to the forum.

In answer to your thread tittle, "Pre-empting an RFE?" The easiest way to pre-empt an RFE is to initially complete the petition/application properly and completely according to the directions.

You give it your best shot. There are a couple reports of limited success of supplemental mailing of information, etc. after the initial petition/application filing. The probability of success is somewhat low, given the voluminous amount of paperwork that the USCIS receives each day.

If you think that you are going to get an RFE, wait for the official notice, respond to it thoroughly and promptly. At that point, at least you know that your petition/application is currently being adjudicated. Submission of an RFE response should be directed back to the USCIS adjudicator working on your specific paperwork, not in the warehouse(s) of incoming mail awaiting processing.
