Today I received a phone call from a restricted number... I picked up the phone and they said that they were calling on behalf of USCIS and that they were doing a survey regarding their customer service, if I had a few minutes.

This person asked me if I preferred Spanish or English and I said that it was fine for me in whatever language. Then this lady asked me if I have called the customer service line, I said yes. How many times? I said I didn't keep track. What kind of case do you have pending? I said that I didn't feel comfortable answering that question.

She said that that question was meant to know what kind of cases they get the most calls....

She said thank you for your time.

I didn't give any personal information, but after that phone call I called USCIS to report it. They took my info and they said that they would make a report and somebody might contact me about it.

I'm freaked out, I've been waiting for my interview to get scheduled for over 2 months, 3 months on September the 26th to be exact.

What's this? What's going on?

This probably has absolutely nothing to do with your case.

If it was a legitimate call, then it was probably just an efficiency survey by a company hired by USCIS to assess effectiveness of their customer service lines. They probably make hundreds of such calls and they are probably selected randomly.

If it was a scam or a phishing call trying to get your personal information, then it also has nothing to do with USCIS.

It was wise of you not to reveal any personal information, but I doubt this was a scam and I think it was probably a legitimate efficiency survey.

No need to freak out. You were waiting before this call and nothing has changed, you can continue to wait or you can contact USCIS for information about your case, but this call likely has nothing to do with your application.

I'm waiting for a service request answer in the mail, but I'm not supposed to hear back from them till next week.

I did call USCIS and I was told that they would only contact me via mail, no further action was taken since I did not provide any personal information.

And so I keep on waiting...

If you didn;t give out anything personal or your case # I think you're fine. Also I think you were right to report it in case it was some kind of fraud.

Be interesting to see if you hear back.
