On Thursday, Scotland will make a historic, once-in-a-lifetime decision in a referendum to vote for the country’s independence from the United Kingdom.It’s big. In fact, in these next crucial 48 hours, it’s all U.K. media can and will talk about.

So we asked Americans to offer their two cents on the future of Scotland.

And whether they have any advice or words of wisdom to help Scottish citizens make their pivotal, impending decisions.

I agree, I'm not sure how it will be viable.

The thing is, the arrangement Salmond has worked out is that if the 'No' vote wins the Scottish Parliament gets extra powers anyway... Perhaps that's what he's really after?

I think it would be economic suicide for the Jocks to do this.

No, Alex Salmond wants independence. He might grudgingly accept less, but hates the thought of being governed from Westminster, especially when the party in power has minimal representation in Scotland itself
