Immigrant or Nonimmigrant visa medical?

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone knows if we need to get an immigrant medical or a non immigrant medical. The email and Australian US embassy website say immigrant but other official websites say non immigrant. This includes the DS-160 confirmation page that we have to print out. I am so stressed out about this. I always thought it was a non immigrant visa but apparently not. This is really conflicting information. I really hope someone can help.

Technically the K-1 is a non immigrant visa, but even USCIS and the State Department sometimes incorrectly refer to it as an immigrant visa. This happens most often with the medical exam.

Just use the clinic they designate and when you fill out the form, indicate it s for a K-1. They will make sure you get the correct exam.

Unfortunately the designated clinic didn't even know which medical I was supposed to get. They apparently don't do USA visa medicals often. After doing some of my own research and reading the fine print I found out that K1 visas need an IMMIGRANT MEDICAL because the people issued a K1 will potentially become in immigrant if they get married and adjust their status in time.

Anyone who is confused just like I was please get an IMMIGRANT MEDICAL.

Also a name and shame here. Don't go to Medibank Health Solutions in Melbourne to do your medical. They were unprofessional and had no idea what to do. They relied on me for the most of it and obviously I had no idea either since it is their job to have visa medical information the correct forms ready. Even when I had my interview the consulate officer commented on how badly put together the medical packet was. Save yourself some hassle and go to the Port Melbourne doctor listed.

Although no help to me, thanks for the heads up for everyone else. Wonder what political deal Medibank Health Solutions in Melbourne did to get themselves on the panel? A med office is supposed to be top notch in every respect to get approved by the embassy for this.
