I do not know If I’m going to be happy or not having received this Interview Waiver Notice. Close to a month after my husband received his EAD/AP Combo Card (Work/Travel Permit) got delivered, this was what I got in the mail. I was desperately hoping for a status change on his case. I checked the USCIS Case Status Tracker everyday to see if my husbands application has moved. My husbands status remains unchanged since June 25 when we submitted additional documents. Based on other people’s timelines, whether people I know or have read about in forums, I would’ve gotten his interview schedule by now. And then this happened.

The letter greeted him with:

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has identified your application as a potential interview waiver case.
This means that we may not need to interview you to complete your application.
However
, if we later determine that an interview is required, we will schedule an interview appointment and notify you.”

You get this waiver because of USCIS case backlogs at your local Field Office. It says:

“Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. Presently, we anticipate that delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of this letter.

REALLY, possibly another 6 more months..... URGHHHHH!

It would be nice if we didnt have the interview and he just one day gets his GC but again we wait. I guess I should be happy but Im not happy until I know that I can rest without having to think about all this AOS stuff

Quite frankly it could be a lot worse. My wife received her EAD eight months ago and we will still need an interview yet it hasn't been scheduled. Adding to that is the fact that we can't really plan trips in advance because we have to always be ready to receive the interview notice and drop everything a month or so later. It's a difficult limbo that the interview waiver solves. Although you have to wait longer, you're not worrying about when you have to be available and put off any major plans. Just sit back and enjoy the card when it arrives. I would welcome the opportunity to be in your situation. Edited by jxn

We also got a letter last week dated September 10. It's really frustrating that it is such a lengthy process, especially since our case is not appearing online.

I'm resigned to the fact that I will just have to wait and see.

Your case numbers don't even register on the USCIS website?

Your case numbers don't even register on the USCIS website?

I filed I-485 for adjustment of status from K1 and also for an employment authorization document.

Neither of the case numbers appeared on the USCIS website for ages. The EAD case number only appeared when the card issued.

And yes, still no case status online for the AOS. Filed on May 28th and called a Tier 2 rep two weeks ago when it did not show up. But the biometrics letter arrived and i attended the appointment, and my notice of potential interview waiver arrived last weekend.

Both applications are/were with the National Benefits Centre(MSC). It is not unknown for these ones not to appear online, unfortunately.

Not just K1, my son is an unmarried child of a US Citizen under the age of 21 (he was 15 when we filed his paperwork in September last year) and we also recieved the "Potential Interview Waiver" notice just this week.
