Marrying in Morocco

I have been in Morocco for five weeks trying to marry my fiance.

The process is long, expensive, and heart breakingly frustrating.

My plan was to apply for a marriage visa when I get back to the states.

However, if we can't marry because of the beurocracy here I'll have to apply for the K-1.

I'll have all the receipts, and papers showing we did everything we could in the time I had.

My question is will this help us having the K-1 approved?

Casablanca is notorious for denials. I'm older than my fiance, which is a huge red flag.

This is my second visit. We've known each other since Feb.2013.

Any opinions/insight

I doubt your marriage will speed up your K-1 visa petition. In fact, it may have a negative effect on your existing K-1 petition.

K-1 Visa is for fiance/fiancee so as soon as you get married, the petition is voided.

I think showing the attempt at marriage would be a plus if you have to resort to filing the K-1, as it shows intent. Good luck!

An attempt at getting married can go towards proving a bonafide relationship. By concern would be that they may decide you are married/ too married to file the K1, but not married enough to file the CR-1 spousal visa, for example if you have a marriage license but not a marriage cerrificate.

Just a quick update.

We were able to get married with 36 hours to.go left on a five week visit.

Now the fun.really begins with spouse visa filing.
