F2A September filers

I did not find a September thread here, so I figured I'd start one.

Sent I-130 packet off for my 7-year-old brother on September 12. Well, it's my LPR mother applying for him, of course, but she does not know English or use internet, so I'll be keeping track.

So what is the approximate wait? My brother has no other family at all, and he has special needs. So it is very difficult to leave him behind.

Minor children of LPR's are looking at 2 to 3 years wait from the time the petition is filed until visa in hand. It may be sooner if the PD's become current again or move up some. Also keep in mind that the petition itself may take until the PD is current or almost current to be approved, meaning it could take a year or 2 for it to be approved. This has no effect on the actual wait because a visa number wouldn't be available anyway without a current PD.

The case went to California Service center.

USCIS claims it takes 5 months to appove a LPR relative petition.

Does it actually ever happen in 5 months?

After waiting for an I-130 in IR-5 category to be approved for almost 9 months, I dare not believe.

Yeah, those claims are moot. While it's perfectly possible that they may approve the petition within that time frame, they most likely won't approve it until very close to the PD.

In the event that they do approve it early, it will go to the NVC right away but you won't be able to proceed with processing until your PD is current or coming up soon.

Now, the PD's were current for a few months last year so if that happens again, the petition would be approved and proceed to the NVC for processing right away.

Dropped I-130 petition in usps on 9/14, waiting for check to cash in.. No progress yet as of today.. My mom petitioning my 13-yr old sister. I am the one following.

My uncle filed 3 petitions for his children back in April, it's still on initial review. They haven't even touched the cases. He was supposed to be in the process of naturalization now, that way no need for PD to become current once a USC. Here's to hoping that the PD's become current again for F2A, or at least move faster. I really hope something is done about immigration reform after these elections.

If you sent it on Sunday they most likely received it on the 17th or the 18th, meaning you will have a PD of one of those days. The date you get the NOA1 is not the PD date, but rather the date they receive a properly submitted application.

That's great. What's your PD? Were you able to do NVC processing before the PD's retrogressed? Or will they schedule you for interview when your PD is reached?

My PD is 24 May 2013. My case completed on March 26 so missed May 2014 interviews and then it retro back. So still waiting for my turn for Interview... :-(

The day you got NOA 1 ( Notice of Approval )

Notice of Action.

And the priority date is not the day you got it in the mail, it's a few days earlier usually.

I mailed my dad's petition on May 28, and the PD is May 29, for example.
