Suggestions needed to fill up DS 260 form

Hi everyone, I m a new member of this forum. My wife is a permanent resident of USA. And she applied for me on Sep'13. She did a mistake filling up the petition with I 130 form. She answered negetive when she was asked wether I had been in USA ever. But I visited USA several times as I m a marine engineer, with ship and in transit as well. She did that as I didn't have any alien ragistration number or I95 visa number and she thought non immigrant visa informations (which I have) are not related with immigrant visa application. Now my case is in under process at NVC and soon I will be asked to fill up DS 260 form where this question will raise again. So What should I do now? If I answer affairmative, then I have to put Alien registration number which I don't have. Please help me with your valuable suggestions.

You answer affirmative and you leave the Alien Registration Number blank. If you were never given one, you can't put it on there. You'll have one after the first piece of paperwork is processed, and then you'll know it.

And the next time you're in an interview, point out the confusion. Make sure they know that you've been here before, and your wife was confused when she filled out the forms. You want to be honest and clear up any misunderstandings.

You will be fine, just answer it correctly on the DS-260 and you should inform the CO during the interview.
