We had our 10-year old K2 sign the forms and my husband put his signature, then "father" in parentheses. For any place they asked for "preparers" signature, my husband filled that out.

05/31/2017 - biometrics appt (Oxnard, CA)

06/19/2018 - ROC still pending with no news but that wonky glitch back in February, so we went ahead and filed for citizenship

If they are able to sign, then they can, or you may sign for them. You can skip the preparers section. That is mainly for use by third parties that you hire/ask to fill out the forms for you, such as lawyer or visa prep services. That is why it asks for 'Firm Name and Address' there.
