Problem at NVC

Hey everybody.

So our petition for fiancee visa was approved on July 25, sent to DOS on July 31.

My fiance called NVC a bit more than a week later after our petition was sent. Among other information, he was asked to give my date of birth, and when he did, he was told it's a wrong date and he won't be able to get any information because of it.

We didn't get an RFE, but still we double checked all of the forms - my date of birth is correct in all of them.

So now he's just calling NVC every 2 days, and last week he was told that the case was assigned to some person there (? or something like that, probaby somebody with a bit bigger authority) and nothing new today.

Of course, this fact makes us very stressed. On Aug 25 it will be a month since our petition was approved... And we cannot even know if we were assigned an NVC case number * :crying: *

Has anybody come across something like this? What did you do? Is there anything else that we can do?

Thank you for your replies in advance.

We had exactly the same problem at the NVC, except for that in our case it was the petitioner's birth date that they had entered incorrectly into their system. Since the DOB is one of the identification questions they ask, they would not give us any information whatsoever on our case.

We checked all of copies all of our papers and our NOA1/NOA2, and his birth date was correct on all of those papers. So it was definitely the NVC messing up.

After many futile attempts, being yelled at, and being hung upon, they finally told my husband he needed to scan his passport, birth certificate and NOA2 and e-mail it to the NVC in order to correct the entry. We tried to expedite it because of USCIS error, but they would not let us do so. When we finally received their answer, two weeks later, they merely told us that our case had already been shipped to the consulate and that they could thus not do anything for us.

My husband finally got hold of the consulate in Frankfurt, who acknowledged and (as far as I know) corrected the mistake.

I am not sure if that helps any, but you are not alone. Wishing you good luck and a speedy approval!!

NVC:

a. I have been trying to call the NVC at 603-334-0700. Keep on getting a busy signal. Is there another number?

b. The person at USCIS says that when package was sent to NVC, NVC will provide no status from NVC. Do I get notices from NVC?

a) it happens sometimes, my fiance had the same issue, so he just called them another day and everything was alright.

There's no other number of NVC. There's a DOS (department of state), but calling there is no use because they will tell you you need to call NVC anyway.

b) well, the last update you get from USCIS website is when you're told your case has left to NVC. then probably a week after it you call NVC. you can get updates from them when your case was assigned an NVC case number, on this website: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx If you haven't been assigned it yet... Just keep calling.

On VisaJourney Wiki there's this email also: "NVCInquiry@state.gov - to email questions"

But they say it takes longer for them to reply to emails, so calling them is the best option.

Anyway, I hope I could help you.

good luck on your journey :)
