Hi Guys,

I have receieved the NOA1 for my K1 visa that I filed for my fiance who lives in Germany. I recieved it saying the packet was recieved june 24th and processing started june 26 (my birthday), but my fiance did not recieve a copy of the NOA 1 is that normal or do I need to approach my local field office in Buffalo, NY to see whats happening? Also, the visa timeline on the website that tracks your visa status says that Texas Processing center is now at 6 months plus the time at NVC and then the frankfurt embassy, is that realistic? We have planned our wedding for march 20-21st weekend.I hope we dont hit a snag and get stuck! I would appreciate your input! Thanks.

The petitioner (US citizen) is received NOA-1 not the beneficiary. The I-129F stage is about the petitioner. After approval and went to the US embassy that's stage will involved the beneficiary.

The Petitioner will receive a hard copy of the NOA-1 at the address you gave on your I-129F. It is a long process at TSC. I wish you the best on your journey!!

Nothing about the information is contradictory. Both the NOA1 and NOA2 for the I-129F are still part of the I-129F process, and that means only the petitioner will receive them. At the embassy/consular interview stage, the beneficiary will begin to receive correspondence.

Your fiancé has nothing to do with the I-129F process (aside from sending you their G-325A and letter of intent). Only the petitioner will receive updates about the case, such as the NOA1, NOA2, and RFEs (if any).

It really depends on when your petition is approved. March could be a possibility but it still seems a little bit tight in terms of having the visa in hand especially if you receive an rfe. Good luck with your journey hopefully you can get everything done in time

I agree with JayGee. We have had many people here in the past who had made fixed wedding plans, booked flights and venues, and then for one reason or another, their visa process took longer than they'd thought and they couldn't make it on time. So just make sure your wedding plans are flexible.

Processing times can change, but yes, 6 months seems pretty realistic for TSC right now, plus the NVC and consulate stage (my whole visa process at Frankfurt took 9 months in 2012).

Good luck!

Thank You folks. I appreciate it. I really hope that we can pull this off in time! Do you guys think I should post pone my wedding plans to april just to be on the safer side of things? I just dont know how this will pan out. I have sent in all required documents and proof, I know that the agents who look over our files do about 15-20 each day, then why dont they just send out the NOA's right after they have approved them? Why keep people waiting specially if there is no rhyme or reason to how they do not handle these applications on a first come first serve basis?

Also She is from Frankfurt as well! now your processing time and the freakin TSC has me thinking to postpone my wedding plans to 2nd or 3rd week of april. Just to be on the safer side of things! Man of Man! I hate this process and the wait but I am sure that in the end, everything will be well worth it.

I've been on VJ site for about 9 months now, and every couple of weeks, someone reports complication with wedding plan because they were "guessing" the K1 visa approval date.

You can set tentative plans but make sure you have flexibility built in to be able to move (typically delay) them as necessary

and don't lock yourself (or other family members) into non-refundable/non-changeable wedding ceremony/airplane tickets, etc.

Good luck.
