Hello friends

This my first post here on this website ... I have seen many people help out each other which is great ... I am hoping someone can help plx..

Ok so here is my situation

I am sponsoring my wife and we r at nvc stage i just got my case number and invoice number 2 weaks ago ... still waiting on nvc e-mail ....

Ok so my first question is that

I am a student a make a 15k year and i do file my tax return every year ... i know my income does not meet the requirement for sponsoring my wife ...

my question is that my father also make around 15 and my brother make 10k ... so can i combine my father and my income to cross 125% of the poverty guideline which will be 30k ... Or do i need to find joint sponser ....

any help would be appericated need someone to guide me pls .

Do you all live in the same household? That's the only way to combine incomes.

If you are using the income of other family members living in the same house as you live in then you must include them in your family's household size. They only issue is if your combined family income is great enough to meet the 125% of the proverty level of all the people living in the household. You have to include yourself, financee, father, and brother.

Do you all live in the same household? That's the only way to combine incomes.

Looked it up on the proverty guidelines for 2014 125% of the proverty level is $29,812 for a household of 4 people. Just so you know

so what do i do now ...

like add my spouse, father and brother in i864 ... all together for people so the income has to be $23,850 for all us ?

So you guys are a family of 4 for the purpose of filling out the I-864. So you guys would have to make enough for family of 4, which is $29,812. If you guys make $30k, make sure the amount is over the minimum required, since it only seems to be a difference of $200.


You need an I864 for yourself and an I864A for your father and one for your brother. But the income between the 3 of you HAS to be at least the required amount, unless you and/or them have enough assets, that will help you reach the amount.

So you guys are a family of 4 for the purpose of filling out the I-864. So you guys would have to make enough for family of 4, which is $29,812. If you guys make $30k, make sure the amount is over the minimum required, since it only seems to be a difference of $200.

Did you verify that you guys makes enough for a household of 4 people, which is at least $29, 812? If so, I mentioned above that you need to complete an I-864, your brother completes an I-864A, and your father also completes an I-864A.

If you don't make the above amount, you need to see if you have enough assets to bring you to the required amount. If not, you will need a joint sponsor.

so what do i do now ?

Ok thats good. But remember that you have to currently be making that amount. They don't go by what you guys made last year, rather what you are making now. As long as you guys will make the required amount by the end of this year, it's fine.

Yes we did confirm ... Me and my father made 15k ad brother 10k last year so thats 40k all together ...


$40k is well over the $30k required for a family of four so you're good to go.
