Hello,

Would someone kindly advise us about this confusing VISA Status:

  • my fiancee past her interview with the embassy on july 18, 2014 with no issues.
  • when we check cgifederal website, the manila, philippines embassy states the "passport is still with post"
  • the ceac website states "no status" on her VISA and only shows the date we completed the DS-160 form online

We need some clarification on this, because we would like to schedule her CFO seminar once she has her VISA in hand. Thanks for your help.

The positive indicators after an embassy interview are that they kept your fiancee's passport and they did not issue a 221g, asking for more documents. If this is the case, it literally is just a matter of waiting. The cgifederal status will remain that way until delivered (as far as I can recall).

Can you also check here using IV and the MNL#?: https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

- If your fiancee's case is open, it would normally show either Ready or AP, if still pending for review. Otherwise, it will say "Issued", once all necessary reviews are finally completed.

Thank you for your response, but as i stated earlier in my original post i did check ceac website for a VISA status. All it says is "NO STATUS" and is shows the date we completed the DS-160 form online. Does anyone have an idea why it states that even when the medical screening and embassy interview was cleared with no problems?

Have you seen created case date?

Or if the The header from Immigrant visa changed into Non Immigrant visa?

Which "Visa application type" did you choose and gave a No status update? Note there are 2 options: IV and NIV.

It should at the very least show "Ready" and updated on the date of your fiancee's interview [earliest possible date], or updated on a later date when your case file was touched or reviewed post-interview.

the VISA type is a NIV (K1 visa)...it shows "NO STATUS" and the creation date (June 8, 2014) is when we completed the DS-160 online form. However, she passed her embassy interview on July 18, 2014 with no problems.

when we check cgifederal website, the manila, philippines embassy states the "PASSPORT IS STILL WITH POST"

the status on both websites is causing the confusion.

And also you have to choose IM visa then enter your case number...

I understand that K1 is a NIV. :) However, it's being processed by the IV unit of US Embassy in Manila.

You should start checking under IV after the interview, as this is where your case is now being reviewed. As I have noted on my first response, check on IV using the MNL# on the site I linked above.

Are you checking immigrant visa at CEAC ? K-1 is processed as an immigrant visa.

Thanks for your help everyone. I checked the the VISA status as a IV. it says "ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING" (updated 7/28/2014).

Does this mean there is something that is still needed? Because my fiancee said she was approved after the interview and she was not given a list of missing items to submit.

It's normal. The status will change as follows: Ready >> AP >> Issued

Every applicant undergoes a period of AP and time frames to issuance vary. It is rare that they require anything new after the interview date, but should the embassy need any documentations, they will surely contact your fiance (by email or phone call). For now, it's literally just a waiting game. The last update date you see on the ceac site is when they last touched/reviewed your case.
