Marriage witness certificate has to be Notarised for I-130 ??

Hi All,

I have everything ready to file an I-130. Do I need the witness certificates for my marriage to be notarised or is it fine to send the affidavits without this ?

24-03-2015 DS 260 submitted online
25-03-2015 Confirmation email received from NVC

26-08-2015 Interview scheduled for 22nd Sep 2015

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Hi

Nothing in your package needs to be notarized. (Some people notarize their birth certificate translation for instance, but it is not required by the instructions on the form) Only the person signature saying that the information is accurate is enough. By the way, I didn't send any affidavits of friends and family either along with the I-130. Your other supporting documentation (joint bank accounts, joint lease, etc) is enough.

12/28/2013: I traveled to Fort Wayne, IN to meet him in person for the first time.

Concurrent Filing: I-130 and I-485

06/10/2014 (Day 1) AOS package sent to Chicago Lockbox
06/17/2014 (Day 7) Received notification on text/email that package was received at 11pm.

06/19/2014 (Day 9) Fee checks were cashed.

06/20/2014 (Day 10) I-130 I-485 and EAD NOAs arrived in the mail.

06/24/2014 (Day 14) Biometrics App letter received

07/02/2014 (Day 22) Successful Biometrics Walk-in at Indianapolis ASC

08/05/2014 (Day 59) Interview Letter was mailed from USCIS. App scheduled Sept. 5th.

08/15/2014 (Day 69): Updated address with USCIS

08/18/2014 (Day 72): EAD in production state

08/23/2014 (Day 77): EAD arrived at home

09/05/2014 (Day 90): Interview day at Indianapolis. Recommended for approval afterwards!

09/05/2014 (Day 90) at 5pm: My case status updated - WE ARE APPROVED!!!!

09/09/2014 (Day 94) : GC arrived on the mail :D

I-751 Removal of Conditions

Fee waiver granted

08/19/2016 (Day 1) I-751 and I-912 packages sent to California Service Center.
09/15/2016 (Day 24) Received NOA with Fee waiver granted

It's fine to send without. To be honest, they count for very little- time spent together, photos, conversations etc matter far more.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
