So we are all asking for a k1 visa, because we fell in love. I was just wondering how did you meet the love of your life, and when did you know that you couldn't live without them. Also how long after that did you decide to file for a k1 visa. Have any of you had issues with family members or problems with the cultural differences? Just wondering how many people share some of the same aspects as me. Thanks

I met my German fiancee on POF dating app while I was in Germany visiting my family in Oct 2013. I knew I couldn't live without her only a few days after talking with her online. I filed I-129F 4 months later after she came to Texas to visit me. I'm half German, so we have had no cultural differences & no problems with family members.

How about you? You asked for our story. What's yours?

My fiancé friend requested me on Facebook about two yeas ago, became instant friends. I dated a few different guys that were all wrong for me, but he was always there for me and he became my best friend. Not until Nov of 2013 did we decide to meet. We met in April 2014 in India where he is from, was instant love. I returned home and filed a K1 visa. We don't have any serious family issues, only that his family is traditional Hindi and that you are usually married within your caste. So since he is in Saudi working they don't know the extent of our relationship and will only know after we are married here in NY. I have met his mother and cant wait to tell her how in love with her son I really am. And great story by the way, many blessings to you both ♥

Call me oldschool but we meet in a bar. She was the friend of a friend who's been to germany and was the friend of a fellow grad student.

I just think it's traditional. It's harder to meet people in person nowadays, so many more are meeting online LOL. But I do find it interesting that it's possible to meet the love of your life online or in person. Online used to be considered taboo. Now it's becoming the norm. I was always more of a traditional guy myself. This 8,500km relationship that started online are both 1sts for me.

March 2010 I was talking to a friend in Georgia and she randomly said I should talk to her friend Mitchel. He had just come out of the Navy and she thought we should talk. I was NOT interested in meeting anyone, Especially so far away and I like he had, Just broke up with my ex.

The sneaky wench was talking to Mitch at the same time, Telling him he should talk to ME! Next thing I know, He adds me on Facebook and messages me. The plan was, We say hi just to be polite and tell our friend Thanks, But no thanks.

What happened next, No One could of predicted. We spoke that night for 4 hours straight and something clicked.

Over the next few days and weeks, We spoke every day without fail about anything and everything. Seeing that little box light up with a message made my heart jump with joy. The weeks turned into months and by July, We had to admit that our feelings had grown way beyond friendship. We had fallen for each other big time but everything was still scary and uncertain. We were sure we wanted to be together but didn't know how. We decided that I would save up and go there to Atlanta, Given the exchange rate worked well in my favour and he was at full time work and school. We didn't want to rush things as we had both been badly hurt and scammed out of a lot of money by our ex's. We continued to make plans and get to know each others family and friends through the endless Skype/Facetime calls.

I flew out there to Atlanta, Georgia on my own on the 31st May 2012. Seeing him there at the airport, It really was the most incredible feeling I have ever had in my life! He was there, In front of me. He was real, He was mine. I knew that I loved this man more than I ever thought possible and had no doubt I wanted to be there forever with him. Thankfully, He felt the same! We went back to his house, Where his family were waiting and I was embraced by everyone and made to feel the most welcome I've ever felt. The next 2 weeks were perfect and went by too quickly but we had already arranged for me to be there for our first Christmas and New Year together.

I've since flown out there to be with him 4 more times, Each more perfect than the last. He has graduated University with his degree and plans to be here asap for a visit.

He proposed December 24th 2013 and we became engaged wub.png We knew already we wanted to go down the K1 route, As it was the quickest and we were more than prepared! We filed early March 2014 and received our NOA1 a week after. Now the waiting begins!

Not too unsimilar a story from Sabrina_T actually. About ten years ago a dear friend of mine told me I should stop feeling sorry for myself after a very difficult breakup, and basically said ''here talk to this really nice guy I know..'' Pretty much did it. We spoke every day.. and days turned into months and years. We decided to meet up. As soon as I saw him walking out of the airport doors, it did me in. I knew he was the one for me. I suppose we fit the definition of taking it slow; over the years there have been many many visits with family and friends. We were still pretty young at the time though, and he wanted to focus on his education and career. In 2009, he proposed to me, and since then it was mostly trying to determine how we would plan out actually being together. He still had more university to finish, and trying to find a job after the economy tanked was a rough go. Deciding which country to live in was also an issue. The immigration changes in his country have pretty much decided where we will stay, and so we'll be filing K1 this year. As far as our family goes, everyone has been accepting and nice. Over the years we've been hounded with ''so when are you guys gonna get together already?!'' but we take it in stride. It's been hard being apart for so long, we're reaching our 30s now and it's time to just settle down and start a family. I'll be marrying my best friend in the world. We can't wait.

I went to Mexico City with friend Memorial Day weekend 2011 and met my now husband on a social dating app. We decided to meet for breakfast and we spent the entire first day together until midnight.

We met again 3 weeks later in Puerto Vallarta and decided to be together.

We've been to Colombia, Costa Rica, Cabo, Cancun, Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia and my home town Dallas 4 times.

I've gone to Mexico over 30 times to spend time with him. We also got married there in Mexico City in Oct 2013. We don't have the right to marry in Texas but we do in Mexico City.

We can't wait to be in Dallas together in the beautiful home we bought in Sept 2013.

We met in the 5th grade. We were in the same classroom for 5 years, after the 9th grade our parents moved me and my sister out to the States. 6 years later she found me on a social site and added me as a friend. For about 2 years we were just simply friends, talking to each other. For about 1 more year before i got to see her again we talked every single day and somewhere in the middle of that year i knew i couldn't live without her, this feeling grew way more after we spent a month together. When i was there we got engaged and i told her the process of the K1 which we will start hopefully next month. Our families did not have problems with each other but were happy for us.

I was studying abroad in Canada, and decided to visit some family in the US.

He was a good friend of my cousin's, who I met when she took me out a few times.

I was so into him, but wasn't really saying anything as I wasn't sure how he felt.. We all went out together on new years eve, and I flew back home just hours later. The very next day, he sent me a long email, confessing his feelings for me, and I was over the moon! We exchanged numbers, and spoke for hours every day for over a year, during which we visited each other a total of 6 times.

Eventually, I finished up my work and education and returned home to Pakistan. We got engaged just months after that. It's been amazing, and I've never looked back. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him =)

We met online, I gave him quite a hard time p since I wasn't looking for anything.

After talking for 9 months and meeting twice, we decided to close the distance. Saying goodbye was extremely hard for us, I couldn't stop crying for days..

My family is against it, like, totally. My mother doesn't even want to know anything about my man (she doesn't know we're engaged) when she saw our picture she forced me to take it of and said she doesn't want to know anything about someone like him. I kept it and she never mentioned anything anymore. I have no doubt in my decision : I want to be with my man. I know I will probably lose my family... but I don't want to regret not doing this..

How is your story?
