We have our interview scheduled in the Dublin Embassy in about a month. I (USC) am not on the list of applicants eligible to attend the interview. I assumed I just needed to be added, so I emailed the embassy and they said I did not need to attend. I am confused by the process now, as I thought the interview was to provide evidence that we have a legitimate marriage. Surely they would need both of us there? What have your experiences been in Dublin (or elsewhere)? Thanks.

My USC husband didn't attend my interview in Dublin either, he was at home looking after our twins. In most embassies, it is not required; your wife should bring photos of the two of you over the years, and if you have it, evidence of co-mingling of finances (joint bank account, bills in both names etc). Are you living together in Ireland? If so, that is really all the proof they need- I wasn't asked to show any of the many bills, photos etc I brought- but if you can bring something showing you live together (letters addressed to both of you etc) that is good.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

Thanks so much. I love hearing other people's experiences. I'm actually the wife!! My husband is Irish. We've been together 11 years, living in Ireland for 10 years, married almost 7 years, 3 kids together, own a house together, lots of pictures, joint accts in Ireland and the US, wills naming each other, etc.... So it should be a pretty straight forward interview, I'm hoping!! My husband is just terrible at remember dates and stuff, so I hope he's not quizzed about these details... though we'll prepare just in case! :D I'm going to be a nervous wreck at work while he's in his interview. I wish I could be there, for support if nothing else. :(
