Hello VJ'ers

I am flying my wife home on Singapore Airlines. Warsaw has been issuing visas day after interview. So...I want to go ahead and go against the accepted practice of not making travel plans. My question is this. Should I put down that my wife is visiting long term a la Student or Employment Visa OR that she is carrying Permanent Resident Card or Alien Resident Card? Saylin's example from her Wiki mentions Alien Resident Number. I know she will be carrying a visa...but she's not just visiting. And she WILL be getting her Legal Permanent Resident Card. Am I over thinking this? I'm trying to save a little money by booking in advance. God brought us this far, and I feel good about purchasing tickets in advance. Please, see the attached photo from Singapore Airlines registration.

Do not buy tickets before the visa is in hand. You have no idea if there will be any AP or how long it will take to get the visa. You have 6 months (from medical or interview date) for your spouse to immigrate so plenty of time to get tickets ahead of time and save some money after the visa is in hand.

Go online and purchase tickets on a Russian airline, much cheaper and Minsk-Moscow-Miami or Dallas. But Do NOT do this until you have the VISA. Tickets will be the same price no matter when you purchase on Russian Airlines.

Good luck.

Thanks. I will fly her from Minsk to Moscow with Belavia and from Moscow to Texas with Singapore Airlines. Lufthansa is just ridiculous, but this fare is not too bad.

Hi again, what was the cost of the singapore ticket? I got one direct from Moscow to Miami one way for $810, we want to bring the Mom over in Oct for a few months and we see round trip ticket Minsk-Moscow-Miami just under $1200.

I looked singapore airlines and it operated by Virgin and goes thru Heathrow the death trap of airports and the flight is over 19 hours just to Miami. Check the Aeroflot or Transaero you might come out better.

Good luck, Ron

It was about $820. Don't even ask me about Lufthansa. They weren't so bad during the winter...but they are in the summer.
