Please Help 39 days have passed since DOA2

HI everyone, I am new to this site and FREAKING OUT. My NOA2 says NVC should contact me within 30 days or I can email, the usual. Well 39 days and an email later I decided to call USCIS (the number provided on the I-797) and they told me that the 30 days is an error and its actually 90 days?? Is that true?

If so, is there anything I can do (make a payment idk) instead of just twiddle my thumbs and wait for the NVC to contact us with next steps? I had no idea the wait times between NOA2 and interview were so long and I am really scared because we are supposed to have our US wedding (already legally married in Peru) at end of September.

Any help at all is much appreciated!!

NOA 1: 12/9/13

Don't mean to be a bad news person but September? You going to have to move that date out. At best case you are looking at a Maybe October November Interview slot that is if USCIS send your petition off and NVC receives in their usual 4 to 8 weeks with another 2 to 3 weeks for case # and get AOS invoice on and on case complete than waiting for interview. Right now NVC is about a 3 to 4 month process with no issues.

Just making it real for you. Sorry.

I think after getting NOA2 from USCIS, there is no time to sit and twiddle thumb. If you read carefully the information provided on the link that NLR posted, you'll see that there are documents you need to get ready, so you can send off your package, as soon as the long-awaited emal/hard copy NVC letter arrives. That will cut your processing time down if there are no RFEs.

From the looks of things, a case close and interview in September.

Nov 10, 2015: Received Social Security Card

Jan 4, 2016: LPR Green Card arrived.

HUH! What are you talking about? Have you logged into the payment portal to see if your AOS is invoiced and yourDS-261 is there to submit?

Yes, I called NVC two times and I have tried to log in once an hour since I found out I had the numbers. I cannot. I called and the NVC operator told me that the numbers won't work until they send me the email. I think I am in control and I do think I know whats happening.

I wasn't clear before, sorry! I get to the page, but I can't pay because I have not yet been invoiced. The operator says that status will not change until I actually get the email with my numbers from NVC.

Very good point! I have my I-864 packet all ready and my husband has all of his docs as well (except for police and prison records, as they have a 6 week expiration at the embassy in Lima)

We have also filled out a test run DS 260, so I *think* we have done all we can.

Yes, it's the "new normal" to wait several days for your DS-261 and AOS invoice to appear after receiving your case# and IIN. Just keep checking once a day to see when they appear in the CEAC page.

The police/court/prison certificates in Peru are valid for 90 days, plus the US embassy in Lima still takes them as long as they are not older than a year and the person has not moved.
