Does there happen to be a thread just for Canadians cases at NVC?? No offense to any other VJ'rs, but it'd be nice to follow other Canadians moving to US, and not have to scroll through posts/pages from so many other countries.

Well there is the NVC forum which of course is all VJ's currently at the NVC and then the Canada portal which is all Canadians currently in the visa process but i do not believe there is a thread of Canadians specifically at the NVC. Make friends and exchange your expediences with them. You and I are not far apart in our stages, I may be able to be of some help to you if you have any questions.

Hi NLR!! I was wondering did you have any issues with proving domicile? What proof did you use? If you don't mind sharing. Also I have an updated list maybe you could give me your thoughts? (I thought it would be okay to speak about domicile as it does have something to do with NVC) also, what was your interview experience like?

So taking a look at the montreal NVC process, how come we can scan the birth cert, marriage cert and other documents and not mail in the original copies?

Would we then take the original copies with us to the interview?

A bit confused as the other NVC guide stated that you have to mail everything in (AOS, IV package with all the originals)

any suggestions?

USCIS

January 8th 2014 - NOA1

July 10th 2014 - NOA2

NVC

July 17th 2014 - Case shipped to NVC

July 30th 2014 - Case received by NVC

August 13th 2014 - Case number and IIN received by email

August 13th 2014 - DS-261 Form Completed

August 14th 2014 - AOS Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 17th 2014 - IV Fees Invoiced and Paid

September 19th 2014 - DS260 Completed

October 6th 2014 - AOS and IV Packages Received

November 28th 2014 - AOS and IV Checklist (4 items in total. 3 for documents they lost. Called on December 9 and a rep said no checklist for IV....go figure)

December 8th 2014 - Checklist scan date.

December 30th 2014 - Case Compl........NOT. So after not having an interview date yet, I called again on Jan 30th and apparently its in final review with a supervisor.

February 6th 2015 - Case Complete: Supervisor called from NVC to confirm everything has been completed now.

March 27 2015 - Interview Date

March 27 2015 - Approved!

I'll follow the thread as well, in case I can be of any help. I'm just preparing to have my medical and interview done in the upcoming weeks before I can be with my husband finally! :dance:

You can see my signature for some details. I did NOT do EP fyi, and other than losing just a few days when they misplaced my Police Certificate at NVC, it went very smoothly.

Beneficiary - Applying for CR1/IR1 (but also played the K3 card prior to understanding it may be phased out.)

2013: July 20: I-130 sent (Chicago lockbox)

July 24: I-130 NOA1

July 24: I-129F sent (Dallas Lockbox)

Aug 2: I-129F NOA1

Aug 12: Alien Registration Number was changed, I-129F.

2014: Jan 28/29/30: - 3 transfer notices for I-130 and I-129F.

Feb 3 - Hard copy arrived -Notice of transfer to Texas stating Jan 29th.

Feb 10 - NOA2

Feb 27 - email stating I-130 being sent to NVC from TSC.

March 6 -NVC received our case.

April 7 - CASE NUMBER yay! IIN and BIN obtained and email given.

April 9 - DS261 available and filled in online.

April 9 - AOS not yet payable but visible.

April 10 - email regarding NVC case number and access to DS261 received/ email regarding AOS received and paid.

April 11 - AOS sent by snail mail.

April 14 - AOS arrived per mail tracking.

Sure!

Read through both of these links.

Saylin's wiki linked first, has good information on EP (electronic processing) which is what you're referring to. And yes, you would take the original documents to the interview. If you don't do EP, you send originals plus photocopies so that you receive the originals back at the inteview, and they keep the photocopies.

Wow!! Your case went quickly!!! I hope for the same luck! I'm super nervous and anxious.

Well I'm not so sure I'd call it quick... although the NVC stage went alright. My petition was held up last year along with 100's of thousands of others.... and sat collecting dust for 6 months before receiving an NOA2 :cry:

No my husband was already living in the USA.

Thank you for the links. I was confused about electronic submission and mailing the documents. I'll read up more.
