Am I seeing this right? $1070.00 to file I-485?

Do not forget to file the AP and EAD I-131 and I-765 with the I-485 as they are "free" in that you do not have to pay more than the $1070.

So much money.

You have looked ahead at the next couple of stages and their costs too, haven't you? Adjustment of status (AOS) is first. Then comes removal of conditions (ROC) and then either US citizenship or renewing the GC every 10 years. So you might want to have a look at the fees for the I-751 and the N-400 or I-90 just to see what you are in for, but the AOS is the most expensive part of this whole process.

Oh wow. Can't wait to tell my fiance about this. I guess the states don't want it to be that easy to become a citizen or even live here.

Thanks Dave

That's why many of us choose to do the CR1 route. Then you have a green card upon arrival. Adjustment of status from a K1 (or otherwise) doesn't give you citizenship, it's merely a green card. Citizenship is available, at earliest, 3 years being married to the same USC and living in the USA as an LPR. If you do not want to include more relationship evidence, then it's 5 years. (Canada is the same length of time for citizenship, 5 years, I believe.)

Plan ahead :) Try having a 16 yr old child with you and the fee multiplies for everyone AOS-ing.....We felt so 'lucky' to have to fork out $2100 + a month after moving here and having our wedding. We read ahead to look at upcoming fees and started setting aside the money for upcoming fees so we weren't surprised

All told by the end of this process for my daughter and myself from K-1 to Naturalization we've spent in excess of $5K. When you factor in the $$ to obtain all the documents initially required, medical fees, random mail and courier fees, travel and accomodation in Montreal and then everything since moving it's pricey.

Oh I see. Well I guess I should have done my homework. But oh well it's been done.
