I am about to submit my AOS application. My friend is sponsoring me for the I-864. He is currently married and he filed a joint tax returns with his wife. His wife didnt have any income on the tax return.Does my sponsor have let his wife also fill the I 864A?

05/29/2014 - AOS Package Delivered (Chicago Lockbox)
06/05/2014 - Text notification received and checks cashed
06/09/2014 - Received NOA1 in the mail
06/13/2014 - NOA (Biometrics) received. [Mailed out: Jun 09 2014]
06/01/2014 - Biometrics Appointment Date
06/16/2014 - Successful ASC early walk-in for Biometrics
06/24/2014 - E-mail and SMS Interview scheduling.
07/2/2014 - Interview date scheduled for 07/08
07/05/2014 Requested expedite service for EAD/AP Document
07/07/2014 - Interview Appointment hardcopy received in mail
07/08/2014 - E-mail and SMS for EAD/AP Document Production
07/14/2014 - EAD/AP card mailed :idea:

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I believe this is not correct, the wife only would need to file the 864A if her income was needed to go over the limit.

Source: my case was exactly like that, no 864A filed.

When they file jointly? That is odd.

When they file jointly? That is odd.

I think the reasoning is simply that even if both have income, the w2 or similar shows exactly the income that comes from each. I would actually find odd that they forced you to add an extra joint sponsor when you do not need it.

I think you only need the I864A if you are using the household member's income OR your evidence doesn't list the income separately, I've seen the latter result in RFE's in the past.
