USCIS requested me to file I-824 after they lost my file

Hello everyone,

I just received a letter in the mail stating that they lost my case and i need to file duplicate, my case was approved three months ago it's an I-130 for my mother, and when i look at the form there is a fee of $405 IS THAT MEANS I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE??????????????? anyone had similar issue?

Since no one wrote anything here, i will send an update. My case was received today, after involving Ombudsman, my case was sitting in Texas service for over 3 months. if i did not took an action and starting trying to figure out my case or even follow the process of waiting them until they get back to me, i wouldn't know. I actually sent massive emails to two congressman, and did infopass and contacted Ombudsman by email (online form) and i contact them by email because they said it's still not assigned but i explained my situation and inform them that USCIS is trying to make me pay $405 to reissue a duplicate and he actually assigned the case.

So my case is now at NVC for processing.

I can't help, but glad you got it fixed! I fear my case is sitting somewhere never to be touched, ever. lol
