Hello everyone,can anyone clarify this for me. We are filling out the forms for my husband's AOS, can we send in the form i765 for permission to work now so that he can be able to work soon? rather than waiting for the whole aos to be over? is there an extra fee or included in the $1070? He has not applied for a ssn yet either. Thanks in advance!

We actually were planning on going tomorrow to apply for ssn,but is that major when filing for aos? i thought it was not needed yet?

It's not needed to apply for (or receive) AoS, but it is needed for work (along with an EAD). By eliminating the need for an SSN now you remove one the barriers to preventing him from working. A K-1 can apply for an SSN before marrying or filing for AoS, but there must be at least 14 days of validity left on their I-94 at the time they apply for it.

We filed everything at the same time. He didn't have an SSN until a few weeks after we filed, so it's not necessary to have it to file. Also, he got his EAD a few weeks before the interview, so the I765 processed faster than everything else.
