Is it absolutely necessary to have 3 years of tax transcripts? my husband can get new ones quite easily, but our

joint-sponsor only has one from 2013, and someone else takes care of her taxes, so would be quite difficult

to attain earlier ones.

Thanks in advance :)

Not difficult at all. The person simply requests them thru IRS on line. IRS will mail, fax or in person at IRS offices.

Just figure out how to do it, research IRS.gov, get the forms, have her sign, mail it in with the fee, bingo....a month later you have them.

People can get them same day at any IRS office. IRS will fax them in a few days. Mine were mailed and I had them in about 2 weeks.

They are FREE.

2 weeks doesn't seem too bad. My husband made out like it would take longer

Nice to know Ning. Maybe beyond a certain number of years there is a fee, or maybe they removed it. Imagine that.

Sometimes 'ya just gotta knuckle down and do the legwork, and in the end it turns out not so bad.

Go here to get your transcript: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

You can download a PDF of your transcript. Then just print it off. It is instant and you don't even need to leave your house.

Yes, you are able to just print them off from online now. Get them instantly with no mail, fax or visiting an IRS office.

You need the Total Income information from the last 3 years, but only need to provide the transcript from the most recent year with the I-864.

We got an RFE asking for most recent tax papers. Originally, we sent them the past three years W2 forms. Do they want the most recent entire tax documents that the accountant prepared (40 pages)????

Also, my husband came here in November, but the tax accountant put that he was here 12 months on one of the documents (just noticed that yesterday when going over the many sheets). Will this be an issue???

All responses are welcomed. I would like to mail out the RFE request by the end of the week.

Thanks VJ Fam

Yes, you need the complete copy of the tax return with all forms, schedules, W-2s and/or 1099s, or an IRS tax transcript. If yours is 40 pages, then you should print out an IRS transcript. http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript

You have to submit the entire tax filing with all supporting docs OR transcripts. As you may have seen here today the IRS now has a way to download on line.

I doubt the error on the one doc will be a problem.

Thank you guys. That was much easier than expected. My husband printed off all of the tax transcripts we needed yesterday

while he was at work :) Now we just need to wait for our marriage certificate and we can file my AOS!
