Hello Everyone,
My fiance just sent me a text to let me know the lagos consulate called him to tell him they will be observing a holiday on the day he is expected to go get his visa and he should come the next day Nov. 12th but he should bring a copy of his birth certificate with him to the consulate on Monday. Should i be worried or do they just need it to put in the packet that he is to pick up on thursday? Please help wedding arrangements already underway.

Providing one before the interview is a bit abnormal. As a pessimist I would suspect that it means there are name check issues and you may looking at AP . Wedding plans shouldn't be anything you will lose money on until the visa is in hand

That is what I also felt since he stated she was so excited on the interview day so she must have forgotten to get the birth certificate from him. Thanks.

Sadly, AP is pretty common for Nigeria. The birth certificate request might indeed relate to the name checks. Do not panic; and best of luck. although yes, it is advisable not to make wedding plans until the visa is granted sad.gif

You will be just fine. God is fully in control. Just have him to provide his birth certificate.

He was told to come pick up his visa on the 12th instead of the 11th and to also bring his birth certificate on monday, the way i understand this is that they forgot to collect the birth certificate cos it needs to be included in his package why tell him about the change of date for visa collection if it's going on AP, please i don't need fear injected into me at this stage, it's standard procedure to have your birth certificate included in visa packages and that is what i have chosen to believe. Thanks anyway for your contribution.

That is exactly what he is going to do cos i don't believe God has brought us this far to leave us alone. Thank Sis.

He already had his interview? And he is just going to pick up the visa? that is very very different. Seems you have nothing to worry about.

I am not injecting fear. Please, try to breathe deeply smile.gif

No need to worry at all. Do what the consulate has asked and pick up the Visa on the 12th. Nov 11th is a federal holdiday (veterans day) so the consulate must observe it. Don't let anyone put fear into you. The Visa is already yours.
