Favourite Christmas Movie

OK, this is going to get really nasty, real fast (in a nice Canadian way), but what is your favourite traditional holiday movie and your most hated? Even if you don't celebrate XMAS you've got an opinion. I'd post the same question for movies about Chanukkah, Eid, Diwali, etc. but there's not much there. I'm not talking about that movie where Goldberg played the demonic Santa who went around killing people (funny movie though), I'm not talking about the Die Hard movies (Yippee ki-yay) and I'm not talking about those Rankin-Bass animatronic movies (from the 1960s with Rudolf and Hermie the elf). I mean the real stuff. Here's my choice for the best: A Christmas Carol. I'm not talking about the one with George C. Scott (Patton and Buck Turgeson as Scrooge, yeah right!), I talking about the classic one from 1951 with Alastair Sim and Michael Hordern. It was on last night and I missed it so I'm pizzed. Most over-rated, that's easy, It's a Wonderful Life. Maybe it's because I'm from Toronto and WNED (PBS Buffalo) used to show that damn movie ad nauseum, I don't know. All I know is if I see that movie on TV I must change the channel. I like Bells of St. Marys, Going My Way and those other holiday movies too I like but I've damn near memorized that 1951 movie I've seen it so many times and I still enjoy watching it.

Miracle on 34th Street (the original with Natalie Wood) is my favorite.

Least favorite is Home Alone.

Mine would have to be Beauty and the Beast - An Enchanted Christmas with How the Grinch Stole Christmas coming a close 2nd. I also like watching The Bells of St Mary's; White Christmas; Santa Claus 1 & 2. As for a dislike, not many Christmas movies that I don't like - I've never watched It's a Wonderful Life...maybe that's a good thing.

I haven't watched one in wayyyy toooo long.

I did used to love Miracle on 34th Street, and definitely the original A Christmas Carol,

however if I had to pick one, and I cry every time I see it is:

A Charlie Brown Christmas.

It just kills me... :hehe:

Is it at the beginning of It's a Wonderful Life where the narrator is going on and on about how the worst thing that can happen to a man is he gets discouraged??

No kidding. You think maybe Potter should be brought up on charges (larceny?). Mary never marries and works in the library, so that's a fate worse than death? Bert the cop can't shoot George Bailey at 50 ft., it goes on and on.

I used to pass this house that had a tree that looked exactly like that Christmas tree from Charlie Brown.

I don't have a favorite Christmas movie. The one I probably like the least is Charlie Brown - at the same time there is a certain nostalgia factor there - but I still don't watch it.
