A little help to get off the ground

My wife just became a U.S. citizen. Now that this long and difficult journey is over with, we want to begin another one: bringing my wife's daughter and the daughter's son to the U.S. My wife's daughter is 29 years old, divorced, a citizen of Russia, but living in Israel with her son and intending to become an Israeli citizen. The son is 5 years old.

Questions:

1. Do we need to file separate I-30s for the daughter and son? If so, how do we go about doing this?

2. Will my wife's daughter need a release from her former husband in order for the son to come to the U.S. --- is it a U.S. requirement?

3. Will the fact that my wife's daughter is not yet an Israeli citizen interfere with the process?

Thank you so much. Your answers will save us a little time.

Interview questions

I'm new here and have a couple questions. Our interview is coming up Dec. 22nd. I'm stressing so much I'm sick. Here is a quick overview of our situation. We met in 2004, married in 2006, have two kids, and started this process about 8 or 9 months ago. We have lost and been denied a copy of my husbands I-94. They say they don't have it on file. We don't have it at all for the interview. My husband came here at 16 on a temporary passport and overstayed obviously by many years. So here is my questions.

Can he be deported if at the interview he is denied the green card? Is it likely they will take that action?

And could he be approved for the green card without the I-94?

Thanks a lot~
Ashley

The Interview

My Tonya and I were approved today!!!!! (I know that God has shined a light on us and did this for us. I am really beside myself and speechless. I know that he was/is involved in this whole process. I thank him. ) Tonya did have a "lady" and said she was very pleasant. Some of the questions that were asked were:

1) Did she know I was married before?
2) Did I give her a ring (yes, and she showed the ring)
3) What did I do for a living?
4) How many times have I been there? (Answer was 4)
5) How did we communicate? (showed all the phone records, SKYPE calls. One thing that I did was purchase a re-fillable phone card that has the ability to print out the detailed records. So this showed that I call her about 4-5 times a day, everyday. I sent her the records for 8 months. It was about 50-60 pages, but worth it I think)
6) How many times have we met (yes, this was asked 2 times, then Tonya showed the 30 pictures I sent to her, and again responded with 4)
7) Why did she want to marry me?
8) Where/How did we meet? - Online at Elana's
9) Did she meet other men there?

WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES!!

On piece of insight I can say is that I know this might be hard for others, but tell your SO to try and be as calm as possible. I know it is hard because I know how hyper I am. Body Language says alot. I think they know you will be nervous, but being nervous and sure of your answers are different. I think that the people are trained to look for the difference. I don't feel the are out to get anyone.

Also, do NOT go light on the evidence. I think this is very important. If you were only able to be with your SO 1 time, then make sure you can show that you are talking everyday, emailing, SKYPING, whatever. Have a phone card that allows you to print out the CALL HISTORY. Something that is detailed that shows what number you dial and the times.

Be ready for the "PERSONAL" questions. Like, the one about why she wants to marry me...again, it is not so much what the answer is, but how the person reacts.

Well, everyone keep praying becasue we ACTUALLY don't have it in our hands yet (the visas) so you know how it could pop up and they want to review something.

Thanks to everyone that has helped us so far, and I hope this insight helps.

Monday exam, Tuesday interview?

Irina's interview at the Moscow Embassy is on a Tuesday. So, if she is to leave an extra business day in between the medical exam and the interview, that means she will have stay in Moscow over the weekend (not the worst, because I will be there with her -- but we would rather spend more of my visit in her hometown). I am wondering how likely it would be that something could go wrong at the medical exam, that could be fixed in one day? Is that chance great enough to merit spending all the extra time in Moscow, or should we just schedule the exam for the day prior to the interview?

I-864 Questions

Hello VJers,

As some of you knows, we were approved last weekend. Been completing my documents for the DS-230 package for the whole week and hopefully done until next week. However, my husband cannot start anything with the AOS package papers (don't know if he can start something else). I asked him to call IRS like a month ago or maybe so to get the W2s and tax transcripts for the past 3 years and he received them like few days before he went to Philippines for 3 weeks vacation. After 3 days back to WY, we were approved and checking on his tax transcripts, 2006 is empty and he called IRS why it happened and IRS said he did not file taxes for 2006 as well as 2005. First question is, Will it be a problem if these 2 years were not filed before? According to him, the lady from IRS will send him papers to take care of that then they will send the Tax transcript. Does anyone knows how long will it take?

Thank you in advance guys!
